Vice President of Finance

Compensation: $250,000 annually + Profit Sharing & Benefits
Job Type: Full-Time

About the Role

We are seeking an accomplished and strategic Vice President of Finance to lead the financial strategy and operations of a well-established, growing company specializing in high-end residential and commercial construction.

Reporting directly to the CEO and serving as a key member of the executive leadership team, the VP of Finance will provide strategic financial leadership while maintaining strong oversight of accounting, project finance, forecasting, cash flow, profitability, and financial controls.

The ideal candidate combines executive-level financial strategy with a hands-on understanding of construction finance and is comfortable operating in a sophisticated, high-growth environment with complex, multimillion-dollar projects.

Key Responsibilities

1. Executive Financial Strategy & Leadership

  • Serve as a strategic financial advisor to the CEO and executive leadership team.
  • Develop and execute short- and long-term financial strategies that support growth, profitability, and organizational objectives.
  • Lead company-wide budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, cash-flow management, and capital allocation.
  • Evaluate financial performance, identify opportunities and risks, and provide actionable recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Establish scalable financial processes and infrastructure to support continued company growth.
  • Provide financial insight and modeling for major business initiatives, investments, and strategic opportunities.

2. Financial Operations & Controls

  • Provide executive oversight of accounting, financial reporting, treasury, tax coordination, audit preparation, and internal controls.
  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
  • Strengthen financial policies, procedures, reporting standards, and controls across the organization.
  • Monitor liquidity, working capital, project cash flow, and overall financial health.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, financial regulations, contractual requirements, and company policies.

3. Construction & Project Financial Management

  • Oversee the financial performance of high-end residential construction projects exceeding $30M , as well as commercial tenant improvement projects.
  • Provide executive oversight of project budgets, job costing, cost-to-complete forecasting, profitability, change orders, billing, and financial risk.
  • Partner closely with project management and operations leadership to improve project-level financial visibility and accountability.
  • Identify cost variances and margin risks early and develop strategies to protect project and company profitability.
  • Leverage Procore, Yardi, and other financial management systems to enhance reporting, controls, and operational efficiency.

4. Finance Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance and accounting organization, including a Controller, Staff Accountant, and six-member international accounting team based in India .
  • Establish clear expectations, performance standards, and accountability across the finance function.
  • Develop team capabilities and succession plans as the organization continues to grow.
  • Strengthen collaboration between finance, accounting, operations, project management, and executive leadership.

5. Executive Reporting & Performance Management

  • Develop and monitor financial and operational KPIs that provide leadership with clear visibility into business performance.
  • Deliver executive-level financial reporting, forecasts, analyses, and recommendations to the CEO and leadership team.
  • Translate complex financial information into clear business insights that support timely decision-making.
  • Develop financial models and scenario analyses to evaluate growth opportunities, operational improvements, and potential risks.

6. Stakeholder & Relationship Management

  • Serve as a trusted financial representative of the organization when working with key stakeholders, partners, vendors, subcontractors, and advisors.
  • Maintain the highest level of discretion and professionalism when supporting high-profile and A-list clientele .
  • Manage relationships with external financial partners, including banking, insurance, tax, audit, and other professional service providers.
  • Support contract negotiations and significant financial commitments from a financial-risk and profitability perspective.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field ; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive finance and accounting experience , including significant senior or executive-level financial leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing complex financial operations and multimillion-dollar budgets or projects.
  • Strong preference for experience within construction, real estate development, property management, or a related project-based industry .
  • Strong knowledge of construction accounting, job costing, forecasting, cash-flow management, financial controls, and project profitability.
  • Experience with Procore, Yardi, and financial/ERP systems strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop finance and accounting teams, including geographically dispersed or international teams.
  • Exceptional financial modeling, analytical, strategic planning, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Executive-level communication skills with the ability to effectively partner with CEOs, senior leadership, operational teams, and external stakeholders.
  • High degree of integrity, discretion, judgment, and accountability.

CPA and/or MBA preferred but not required.
